Prior to joining Luma Investment, Jakub was President of the Board of the Polish State Railways (PKP S.A.), largest capital group in Poland with value of PLN 25.3 bn, 13 subsidiaries and over 80,000 employees.
Between 2008 and 2012 Jakub was CEO /Chair of Investment Committee of PKO TFI, a leading mutual fund in Poland. He was in charge of establishing and successfully growing the asset management competence across the Fund.
Between 2003 and 2008 Jakub served in World Bank Group in Washington D.C. as a Member of the World Bank Executive Board. He was a Director of International Department in the National Bank of Poland (NBP) between 2001 and 2003. There he was a representative to the International Relations Committee (IRC) of the European Central Bank (ECB). As a member of the Investment Committee for Foreign Reserve, he was in charge of strategic decisions on Poland’s foreign reserves of ca. USD 30 bn.
Jakub started his professional career in the Ministry of Finance (1997-2000). As a Head of Policy Cabinet, he created and led the team of assistants for the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Prof. Leszek Balcerowicz.
Jakub holds an MBA degree from the University of Minnesota and a Ph.D. in economics from the Warsaw School of Economics. He is also a CFA charterholder.
Currently, besides his CEO position in Luma Investment, he is an independent Member of the Supervisory Board and Chairman of the Audit Committee in HSBC Bank Polska S.A, Allianz Life&Non-life Insurance, Allianz Funds and Euler Hermes.
